Hopefully, we are now moving away from the coldest period of the year and warmer weather is something we can look forward to as we come into Spring.

We are proud to continue our work as a training centre, welcoming two Dental Hygiene students, Abi, and Grace to the practice from Colchester University, supporting their learning experience. They are a great asset to us, and we look forward to watching them develop.

Denplan is the practice’s chosen payment scheme, to cover all your essential dental maintenance.Throughout the Month of May we are offering those wishing to join the scheme, the chance to sign up for just £30 with your chosen Dentist. Our in-house treatment coordinator is on hand to help with this or any questions you may have.

At The Perfect Smile Clinic we are pleased to offer inhalation sedation, which is a form of conscious sedation. It can be an invaluable service for nervous patients and is a form of anxiety control to make the treatment more pleasant.

What is Dental Sedation?

Sedation offers a modern alternative to general anaesthesia for most dental procedures. This means breathing in a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen (‘gas and air’), which quickly leads to a pleasant and calm feeling.

Although you may feel a little drowsy, you will always stay conscious.

Why choose inhalation sedation?

  • It is highly effective.
  • It is an extremely comfortable experience – you simply breath through a nosepiece.
  • It is completely safe. You cannot overdose on gas and air.
  • There are no after-effects. You can drive home after about 15 minutes, although we recommend you have somebody to accompany you.

Inhalation sedation is for you if:

  • You are particularly nervous about pain during a dental treatment.
  • You want to feel more relaxed during your visit to the Dentist.
  • You have another medical condition where you may find it difficult to control some of your body movements.
  • You need lengthy dental treatment and feel that sedation may help you to cope better.

Is Dental Sedation safe?

Yes, this procedure is completely safe. The gas and air mixture quickly leaves the body as soon as you breathe in one or two breaths of ordinary air. There are also no adverse side-effects to worry about.

Can Dental Sedation make you sick?

Most patients do not experience adverse reactions such as nausea.
