I want to start by giving you a bit of background about myself, as I feel there is a certain perception around those who opt in for the many familiar skin treatments available claiming to turn back the years.
Here is me in my happy habitat, the great outdoors; not overly concerned with appearance and not having ever had a great skin care regime (I’m not proud of this fact). This doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t like to rewind the clock a few years, smooth out some of those lines I see gradually creeping in. I just didn’t think the “frozen” look was for me.
Then I hear we have a treatment being offered within the practice that piques my interest. A natural, lasting and fast acting way to plump and firm skin, reduce wrinkles and glow like never before!! What’s not to love? Firstly, I want to address why I have chosen a Dental Practice to receive this treatment and not a Beauty Salon where I could get this procedure done cheaper. I did my research…
I have the initial consultation and a full medical history is taken and a lengthy discussion on the treatment involved, my expectations and the results I am after. I feel confident to continue. Lots of face pulling gets all the all-important before photos and again gives us an aid to clarify the results we want to achieve.
The treatment commences and as the spa music plays, I lay back very comfortably in the chair and the youthfulness begins.
I am so surprised that I don’t feel anything, in fact the only hard thing was trying to pull all the frowns, surprised expressions and great big smiles with the numbing gel having taken full effect.
Its literally over in no time and I’m super happy. I still look like me, I felt no pain, I have no holes in me and no redness.
I am warned of potential side effects, the worst being I must not exercise for 24/48 hrs. Other things to note are, to try and keep my head upright for 4 hours and not go into any extreme hot or cold conditions.
Around 6 hours later, that evening, the numbing cream had worn off and still felt fine, no bruising, no major change yet.
The following morning, I jump out of bed and I can’t wait to meet the new 20-year-old me in the mirror. She wasn’t there! But who is, was a healthy looking me, the lines around my eyes had already softened, I had this natural youthful glow. So impressed, I wash my face and pop on sunscreen and moisturiser, as had been recommended and go about my day.
Now, I have been told the results gradually appear and will be at their peak in 7/10 days. I will need a top up in 2 weeks’ time, but then the effects should last 3-4 months. I am so excited and completely surprised that an average girl next door who loves her joggers and hoodie can still have a treatment to look her best, but still look like her. Hell, even after talking to my husband, his interest was peaked, this really is a treatment for any of you, male or female!
Of course, this this just the beginning of my journey and I will be updating the progress. It is my honest account, so if things don’t feel great or one of my eyebrows start moving towards my ears, you will hear about it.
